Job Title: Home Health Aide (HHA)

Reports To: Nursing Supervisor / Case Manager

Job Summary

The Home Health Aide (HHA) provides compassionate, hands-on assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs) to patients in their homes or residential care settings. Working under the supervision of a licensed nurse or healthcare professional, HHAs support patients in maintaining safety, dignity, and independence while delivering high-quality, non-medical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.

  • Support daily activities such as meal preparation, feeding, light housekeeping, and laundry.

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families.

  • Take and record vital signs (as directed) and observe/report changes in patient condition to supervising nurse.

  • Assist with safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.

  • Follow individualized care plans developed by the supervising nurse or case manager.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.

  • Comply with infection control procedures, company policies, and HIPAA requirements.

  • Document care provided accurately and timely.

Qualifications

  • Current Florida Home Health Aide certificate (40+ hours of training) OR CNA certification.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (valid and current).

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (per state requirements).

  • Level II background screening (per Florida Agency for Health Care Administration).

  • Compassionate, reliable, and patient-focused with strong interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in patient homes or residential care facilities.

  • Requires physical ability to assist patients with transfers, mobility, and daily living needs.

  • Flexible scheduling available (days, evenings, weekends, holidays).
